The journey of self-discovery prompts us to ask, "Who am I?"
This question evolves with each wave life throws our way. You've landed on my page seeking guidance—for yourself, your child, your partner, your school, or your company.
My aim is to transparently share "Who I am" and instill the confidence needed to take the first step toward embracing mindfulness—an evidence-based therapy that empowers individuals, children, schools, and companies.
I am a divorced mother of five children, aged 12-24, comprising three daughters and two sons. Three of my children are currently in university—one at UCLA, one at UCSC, and the other at UCSB. My eldest daughter navigates autism and epilepsy and my youngest son who is in middle school.
Growing up in diverse regions around the globe, such as Australia, Korea, and Hong Kong, has granted me a unique perspective on cultural diversity and enriched my adaptability.
Understanding the intricate dance of life with its blend of babies, teenagers, divorce, medical issues, relationships, relocations, loss, fire evacuations, and daily challenges, I recognize the universal need for support and guidance.
It's crucial to research and find the right person for self-care. As a certified mindfulness facilitator, coach, and therapist, I encourage due diligence for an equitable partnership with the ultimate goal of achieving a healthy balance of mind, body, heart, and soul.
My training includes certification through the UCLA Mindful Awareness Research Center (MARC) and Mindful Schools. I hold a Master's in Social Work from USC and an Associate Clinical Social Worker.
Over the past eight and a half years, I have volunteered to teach mindfulness in various educational settings, including TK through fifth grade, sixth through twelfth grade, young adults in life skills groups, and a special-needs school in Kenya during the COVID shutdown.
My journey into mindfulness began 14 years ago when seeking alternative therapy for my daughter with autism and addressing my eldest son's intense anxiety.
Mindfulness became a cornerstone of my daily life, especially during a challenging period that involved a move from Idaho to Malibu, divorce, my father's tragic death, the Woolsey fire, and the COVID pandemic. The resiliency gained through mindfulness practices, including meditation and breathing, proved invaluable.
I specialize in structured facilitation for 6-12 weeks, coaching, and therapy. Homework focused on mindfulness practices is a positive addition to my approach. Witnessing the transformative impact of mindfulness on clients—whether children, young adults, or adults—has reinforced my belief in its power.
The tools of gratitude, breathing, and meditation can bring about a beautiful and resilient present, connecting individuals to themselves, their families, and their communities.
In a rapidly evolving world, facing technological advancements like AI, maintaining calm and active minds becomes crucial. Learning mindfulness equips individuals with self-care tools to navigate life's hurdles and daily challenges with confidence and curiosity, counteracting the fear often propagated by society.
