Over the past 12 years, I've explored mindfulness to support my eldest daughter, who has Autism and Epilepsy. This journey led me to complete MAP courses and certified Mindfulness training at UCLA MARC and engage with Mindful Schools in Berkeley, CA and simultaneously completed a Masters in Social Work from USC .
As a mother of five, patience is essential, and mindfulness has become crucial for self-care amid the chaos. Mindfulness breathing techniques and meditation have been invaluable tools for the well-being of my entire family.
Children and young adults with special needs readily embrace mindfulness, and I've adapted my teachings based on my daughter's insights and the experiences of others. Over 15 years of meditation and 10 years of teaching mindfulness, I've witnessed its profound impact. I've shared these practices in our local elementary school, my daughter's Life Skills program, and with a special needs community in Kenya, Africa.
Mindfulness is not a one-size-fits-all practice; it requires adjusting to individual needs, a lesson I continually learn and impart. Research shows that 21 days of consistent practice can form a positive habit...and mindfulness is no exception. BreatheMindful
